Teenage Pregnancy Advisor
Within the Options team we have a specialist Teenage Pregnancy Advisor who is here to help anyone under 18 who lives in Tower Hamlets and is pregnant. The advisor can help by talking through the options you have with your pregnancy (parenting, adoption, and abortion) and providing information and support for you to follow through with your decision.
If you decide to have an abortion, the advisor can help you to arrange appointments and answer any questions that you have.
If you decide to place the child into adoption or foster care, the advisor will help you to make the arrangements.
If you decide to continue with the pregnancy and parent, the advisor will support you through your pregnancy with information on antenatal (before birth) care, housing, financial support, and continuing education. We also run special antenatal classes just for young people and our Teenage Pregnancy Advisor can enrol you in these classes as well.
Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) for schools
Options also provides education sessions for secondary schools throughout Tower Hamlets in line with each school’s Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) policy. Our team members are experienced in working with groups of young people, and can provide up-to-date information on topics such as relationships, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, puberty, body image, pregnancy, parenting, and abortion.
If you would like to know more about the SRE sessions offered by Options, please call us on 020 8223 8322.
Training for youth workers and other professionals
Options can provide training for anyone working with young people in Tower Hamlets. The training is designed to help youth workers and other professionals feel confident and comfortable providing sex education within informal settings.
There is a structured training programme (entitled Rabbit On!) that provides comprehensive coverage of a range of topic areas and provides practical examples of how to deliver this information to young people. Alternatively, training programmes can be designed to suit participants or organisations who request assistance.
For further information on our training, please contact us on 020 8223 8322
